Update: FLHS Student Who Was Robbed at Knifepoint Faces Drug Charges

The Fair Lawn High School student whom police say was robbed by two men during a drug deal turned robbery, has been charged as a juvenile.

The 17-year-old Fair Lawn High School student, whom police say was robbed by two masked men to whom he was trying to sell drugs, has been charged as a juvenile offender for allegedly setting up the drug deal, police said.

The teen, whom police say had his iPhone and 49 grams of marijuana taken from him at knifepoint near the high school football field on the night of Oct. 17, faces charges of distribution of marijuana in a school zone, distribution of marijuana of less than one ounce and possession of marijuana of less than 50 grams, police said.

Sgt. Richard Schultz said it's too soon to tell what penalties would be imposed on the teen if he were found guilty.

"Juvenile matters are treated differently than adult and so are the penalties," Schultz said in an email. "Simply put, in the adult system there is a sense of punishment...whereas in the juvenile system we are looking at rehabilitation and diversion."

Police have charged Jose J. Narvez, 18, and Antwain L. Steed, 19, both of Grunauer Place in Fair Lawn, with first degree robbery and posession of 49 grams of marijuana for the alleged knifepoint stick up.
