Paterson mayor calls $105.6 million in tax breaks to real estate tycoon a 'special sweetheart deal.'

Chris Christie’s New Jersey administration awarded a $105.6 million in tax breaks for a close friend and donor's property venture in Paterson. 

Jon Hanson, who the Guardian says is is a real estate tycoon, is the chairman of a policy commission for the governor. He has also donated to the Republican party several times. 

The targeted city zone usually requires job creation and tax revenue before funding for the project is provided.

Paterson’s mayor, Jeffery Jones, said he was concerned that Hanson’s firm, The Hampshire Companies, may have received a “special sweetheart deal."
