Fair Lawn Council Appoints Borough Manager

Officials voted to appoint acting borough manager Jim Van Kruiningen as the permanent borough manager last week.

Fair Lawn officials settled on a new borough manager last week, but the candidate is not new to the office.

The council unanimously voted to approve James Van Kruiningen, who has served as the acting borough manager since May, to the position.

"I think everyone has seen the work Mr. Van Kruiningen has done since he's been the interim," Councilman Kurt Peluso said. "He's done a terrific job."

Van Kruiningen has worked in the borough manager's office since 2007, having most recently been the deputy manager before former manager Tom Metzler resigned last year.

He is a lifelong Fair Lawn resident who has also worked as a police dispatcher and police records clerk and volunteered with the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, having previously served as chief.

"I'm very, very happy," Van Kruiningen said. "It's an honor."
