Fair Lawn Holds Veterans Day Ceremony

November 11 is Veterans Day.

Fair Lawn veterans and residents gathered at the memorial in front of the municipal building Monday morning for a Veterans Day Ceremony.

November 11 marks the date in 1918 when the fighting of World War I ended with an armistice before the Treaty of Versailles was signed seven months later.

Sen. Bob Gordon spoke to the crowd, thanking the veterans and calling on federal officials to pass new legislation to help reduce the backlog on vets' benefits claims.

"It's time to honor our veterans not just by words, but with deeds," Gordon said.
