Fair Lawn Saying 'Farewell' to Baratta, Trawinski

There will be a dinner for outgoing deputy mayors Jeanne Baratta and Ed Trawinski Friday.

Fair Lawn officials presented plaques to outgoing deputy mayors Jeanne Baratta and Ed Trawinski during their meeting Tuesday night.

Baratta has spent eight years on the council and Trawinski has served for 12 nonconsecutive years.

"During their tenure, Ed and Jeanne have made many positive contributions to our borough," Mayor John Cosgrove said.

There will also be "farewell" dinner event for Trawinski and Baratta from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Friday. Tickets cost a suggested $30 and can be purchased at the door or with a check in advance. For more info, see the poster above.

Officials shared some memories from their time working together. Democrats Lisa Swain and Kurt Peluso said that, despite a few disagreements between themselves and the Republicans, they all agreed on most issues.

"You put on a face for the public, but we really have a lot of fun together," Swain said.

Trawinski and Baratta both thanked their fellow officials, the borough's employees and the residents who elected them.

"I am grateful to the residents of Fair Lawn who put their faith in me and gave me the opportunity to serve," Baratta said.

She pointed to the bipartisan underage drinking ordinance, the borough's inclusive holiday display and the strict pay-to-play ordinance as points from her terms she took particular pride in.

Trawinski offered some advice for next year's council, including members-elect Amy Lefkowitz and Dan Dunay.

"Jeanne and I are going to be watching," Trawinski said. "Keep our taxes low. Keep our services high."
