Theater Company Offers Scholarship to Student Performers

The Skyline Theatre Co., based in Fair Lawn, will award $1,000 to a Bergen County student pursuing a degree in theater, film, television or communications.

The Fair Lawn-based Skyline Theatre Co. is accepting applications for its annual Harry K. Berkheiser Jr. Scholarship.

The $1,000 scholarship, named in memory of one of the company's founders, will be awarded to a Bergen County high school senior planning to pursue a degree in theater, film, television or communications.

The company has given a scholarship in Berkheiser's memory every year since he died in 2007.

"This scholarship is truly part of Harry’s legacy," Sam Scalamoni, Skyline’s artistic director, said in a press release. "He was so passionate about young people and the arts. We at Skyline are so proud to be able to extend this scholarship for young people who show a true commitment and dedication to these branches of the arts."

Applications can be found on Skyline's website and are due by March 15.

Skyline's "Concert of Stars" gala will be held at the Fair Lawn Community Center Feb. 28.
