Spinuzzi Shuts Out Old Tappan; Cutters Advance to Quarterfinals

Fair Lawn beat Old Tappan, 2-0, Sunday in the Bergen County Softball Tournament's Round of 16.

Senior pitcher Marissa Spinuzzi put on a masterful performance Sunday to lead the Cutters over Old Tappan, 2-0, in the second round of the Bergen County Softball tournament.

Spinuzzi struck out 11 Golden Knights and surrendered only one hit over her seven shutout innings. Senior third baseman Jen Calabrase and junior second baseman Sam Colca each drove in a run.

The No. 6 Cutters move on to face No. 3 Immaculate Conception in a quarterfinal matchup on Saturday at Immaculate Heart Academy.
