Dozen Burglaries Lead Fair Lawn Cops to Call for Diligence

The Fair Lawn Police Department is asking borough residents to close their windows, lock their doors and keep an eye on their neighbor’s houses in lieu of 12 reported burglaries across town since July 17.

Promenade's Retail Portion Slated for Fall Opening

Construction is going “very well” at the Fair Lawn Promenade, an upscale, mixed-use housing development scheduled to open for retail purposes in the fall.

Three of the five buildings that will occupy the 10-acre lot between Route 208 North and Pollitt Drive are up and construction on the remaining two buildings is scheduled to begin soon, according to Scott Loventhal, the director of development for Garden Homes Development and Garden Commercial Properties, which owns the Promenade.

Bergen Regional Medical Center Honors Top Supporters

Paramus' Bergen Regional Medical Center has recognized two of its top supporters - Lois Horowitz and Louis J. Weiss, both Fair Lawn residents - with the 2013 Bergen Benefactor Award.

The award recognizes individuals who have enabled BRMC to continue its mission to educate the community about health issues, support educational programs for caregivers and improve the quality of life for those served by the hospital. 

Police Explorers Complete Academy

Six members of the Fair Lawn Police Explorer Post 902 recently completed a week-long residential "police recruit" styled academy at Monmouth University sponsored by the New Jersey Police Athletic League.

Officers from law enforcement agencies throughout the state were on staff, including officers from Fair Lawn, Interim Chief Glen Cauwels said in a press release. The academy provided "basic police recruit styled instruction" designed to give each explorer a unique insight into the world of policing.
