Cosgrove Honored as Bergen Benefactor

Cosgrove and Joel honored for their service to Bergen Regional Medical Center

received the 2012 Bergen Benefactor award last week for his support of Bergen Regional Medical Center.

Cosgrove, who shared the honor with Lucille Joel, is the Chairman of the Foundation at Bergen Regional, the hospital's non-profit fundraising arm. He received the award -- which recognizes individuals who support the hospital's healthcare mission -- on March 12 at the Seasons in Washington Township.

“John and Lucille are wonderful examples of how community members can help improve our county through volunteer work and we’re lucky to have such tireless advocates for public health programs working to strengthen the Bergen County community,” BRMC President Joseph Orlando said in a statement.

In addition to his work at Bergen Regional, Cosgrove is an active community volunteer in Fair Lawn, having served as a volunteer firefighter and coach for youth baseball, street hockey, softball and lacrosse programs, among other things. 

Joel, a community, government and healthcare leader who also teaches at Rutgers University, is an original and continuing member of the Community Oversight Board of Bergen Regional Medical Center, the current chair of the Long Term Care Quality Monitoring Committee and a trustee of the Foundation.
