Rotary Fundraiser, School Board Candidate Forums, Halloween Parade This Week

Here's a look at the week ahead in Fair Lawn and Saddle Brook.

Fair Lawn residents can throw out up to 200 lbs. or four barrels worth of construction waste this week. The pick-ups will be in section 3 Monday, section 4 Tuesday, section 1 Wednesday, section 2 Thursday and section 5 Friday.

Arcadia Bird Sanctuary will visit the Fair Lawn Library with parrots from all over the world Monday. Children in first grade and older are welcome. The free program starts at 7 p.m.

The Fair Lawn Rescue Squad will host a boating safety class at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Fair Lawn Council meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the municipal building. 

Former New Jersey Devil Jim Dowd will be signing autographs at the Fair Lawn Rotary Club's fundraiser at the Athletic Club at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The event will include sports memorabilia auctions and a buffet dinner. Tickets cost $40 and are available by emailing fairlawnrotarians@gmail.com.

The Saddle Brook PTA is holding a Board of Education "meet the candidates" night from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Saddle Brook High School media center.

The PTA Council and the League of Women Voters are sponsoring a Fair Lawn Board of Education candidates forum at 8 p.m. Thursday in the borough municipal building. 

The Fair Lawn Library will hold a "haunted library" event with games, crafts and other activities from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.

The Old Library Theatre will present "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" at the Fair Lawn Community Center this weekend and next weekend. The shows start at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available from their website.

The Fair Lawn Police Department will be accepting residents' old, unwanted medication as part of the DEA's Operation Take Back from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Fair Lawn will hold a Halloween parade at Memorial Pool starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Fair Lawn Jewish Center will hold the free monthly "little sparks" program for kindergarten students from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Sunday. To register, email principal@fljc.com or call 201-796-7884.
