Saddle Brook Schools Open, Rosh Hashanah, 'Great Gatsby' This Week

Here's a look at the week ahead in Fair Lawn and Saddle Brook.

Government offices will be closed Monday for Labor Day.

Fair Lawn will host free health consultations from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the municipal building.

The Saddle Brook Board of Education will hold a special meeting Tuesday to discuss merit goals with the superintendent. The board will meet in closed session but may open to the public to take action afterward. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in Saddle Brook High School.

The Fair Lawn Council is scheduled to discuss the naming of streets in the Promenade and the Central Bergen Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, among other issues during a work session at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in municipal building room 201. The agenda is available online here.

Wednesday is the first day of school for Saddle Brook students.

Rosh Hashanah starts Wednesday evening and continues through Friday evening.

The North Jersey Chorus is starting rehearsals for its fall season this week. The first rehearsal will take place at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church on River Road. For information about joining, call 973-423-5443 or 201-519-2715.

Gospel group Ernie Couch & Revival will perform at the Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church on River Road at 7 p.m. Saturday. Admittance is free.

First Reformed Church of Saddle Brook will hold "rally day" to kick-off their fall classes Sunday.

The Fair Lawn Library will screen "The Great Gatsby" (2013) at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Show up early to get seated.
