Fair Lawn Borough collects municipal taxes four times a year -- February 1, May 1, August 1 and November 1 -- with a 10-day grace period for each quarter. Late payments accrue 8 percent interest on the first $1,500 and 18 percent for all additional amounts. Residents and businesses can pay their taxes via credit card for a 3 percent convenience fee.
The Tax Collector's Office, on the first floor of the municipal building, also sends out quarterly water bills. Residents who don't pay on time risk their water supply being shut off.
