This is a much better idea then sending out a dozen cops to write tickets.

Why? Ticket the jaywalkers that try to cross at the tracks rather than the crosswalk at the light.Read More Ticket the idiots.

Every single day they walk across Pollitt Drive everywhere BUT at the crosswalks, Fair Lawn AvenueRead More in the middle of the street from either side of the tracks, and on a diagonal to get to the dirt lot a nanosecond faster. Does anyone really believe that the commuters that aren't smart enough to cross safely now are going to bother to wear anything, even a free reflector?

Nice videos Zak and Wayne. The Fair Lawn Bird Sanctuary is actually in bad shape right now, looksRead More nothing like it did in the video I shot last summer. It took a severe hit from the Halloween snow storm. Trees and branches came down every where and bushes were leveled. The Parks Dept finally piled up the fallen trees so they could cut the grass, but the fallen trees remain there. The bushes are slowly recovering. But the deer keep coming, looking for food.

This action by youth of our community reinforces out faith in the future as suggested by "GoRead More Figure" above. We might be pleasantly surprised at how many of our young people initiate and join community programs to help others. I know that I have faith in the future because lerfn of the many selfless activities of our youth.

Yesterday we did our first ever show at The Opportunity Center in Fair Lawn for an audience of 25Read More developmentally disabled young adults. We gave them horns and they marched around the room as McNamara's Band with Irene leading the way. They also blew the horns after we counted down to New Year's Eve midnight and to the song I've Been Working on the Railroad. We gave them all American flags and they marched around the room singing all the great patriotic songs. Ace Andrews was in costume as the Easter Bunny as we sang Peter Cottontail. The young people each did animal sounds, monster sounds and types of laughter. They joined in singing Old McDonald Had a Farm, the Hokey Pokey and clapped to Deep in the Heart of Texas. I did magic tricks that had them amazed. They loved Chris and Ace dancing a waltz. Our six Agape singers had a whole new experience in doing this show and we plan to do more there in the future.

Touching story. I understand both Marianne and Danielle work for the borough, what do they do?
Frank Sina April 17, 2012 at 01:35 pm
I Have known Marianne Pettineo since Freshman year of High School. I have hung out with both herRead More sons over by her house so many times, for many years, and many late night weekends to the point that Marianne thought I should pay rent. If anyone deserves this award its Marianne. I know first hand from knowing her that this is her passion. She deserves the Elizabeth Boggs Family Advocate Award and many others like it.
Jack O'Neil April 17, 2012 at 03:49 pm
This is a well deserved honor. Residents of Fair Lawn should be proud of Marianne's accomplishmentRead More in reviving the ADA Committee and those appointed to the committee who make up the team that support Marianne and her co-chair Steve Weinstein.
