Fair Lawn Partnerships Offer Military Morale Booster

The borough is working with Fair Lawn's own Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon and Cell Phones for Soldiers this holiday season to offer aid to service members stationed abroad.

Fair Lawn is keeping its local soldiers stationed abroad front of mind this holiday season. The borough and its police department have partnered with two military support organizations that distribute supplies to troops overseas and is asking that residents contribute to the cause. Collection boxes for both Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon and Cell Phones for Soldiers are now set up in various locations around town. Residents can find collection boxes for Fair Lawn-based Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon at the municipal building, public library, senior center and community center. Kudos to the Fair Lawn police deprtment and the borough for initiating this worth while program for our militsary serving overseas. Alan Krutchkoff"s Adopt-a-SoldierPlatoon program is a well organized national program, and deserves the support of our citizens. Donate Old Cell Phones to Charity that Recycles Them for Soldiers

If you have an old, out-of-use cell phone, consider donating it to Cell Phones for Soldiers.

Bergen County is asking residents to donate their old, out-of-use cell phones to the Massachusetts-based non-profit Cell Phones for Soldiers, which recycles the phones to purchase international calling cards for the 369,000 men and women serving in the U.S. military overseas. To date the county has collected 213 phones from within its ranks at the Prosecutor’s Office, Sheriff’s Office, the Department of Public Works and the Department of Parks. Beginning Thursday and continuing through Friday, June 29, residents can donate their phones at three county locations: Siblings Robbie and Brittany Bergquist—then 12 and 13 years old -- founded Cell Phones for Soldiers in 2004.   The organization has since collected more than 8.3 million cell …
