Mega-Mall Won't be Open for 2014 Super Bowl, Report Says

Lawsuit filed by Jets and Giants could be cause for latest delay in Meadowlands project, according to report.

The massive American Dream mall in the Meadowlands will not be ready in time for the 2014 Super Bowl being held at nearby MetLIfe Stadium, WYNC.org reported.  According to the report, sources said the project "won't be ready" in time despite Governor Christie's claim in 2010 that the mall, once called Xanadu, would be open for the game.  American Dream was missing from a list of Super Bowl events announced last week by the Christie Administration.  NJ.com reported one possible cause for the latest delay could be a lawsuit filed by the Giants and Jets seeking to keep the mall closed on game days.  Construction began in 2004, but was halted in 2009 before current owner Triple Five took over the troubled project. Brooklyn Man Critical After Meadowlands Beating

Beating by group following Mexico vs. Wales soccer match caps tough month at the sports complex.

EAST RUTHERFORD -- A Brooklyn man was in critical condition Monday after he was beaten by a group of men in the parking lot of MetLife Stadium a day earlier, NJ.com reported. The attack occured following an international soccer 'friendly' between Mexico and Wales. It left Alfredo Lopez, 37, in critical condition at Hackensack University Medical Center, NJ.com reported. His brother was also attacked, but not seriously injured. A state police spokesman told NJ.com that the brothers had approached a "low-rider" vehicle and asked if the driver could make the suspension bounce, but instead were chased through the parking lot by up to six men and beaten.
