Whatever local business is your favorite, we at Patch want to know about it. That's why we're relaunching our Readers' Choice program this week. We want to know what businesses are absolutely the best around. With that in mind, we're asking our readers to nominate their favorite businesses for our Readers' Choice polls. Readers' Choice Best Sushi: Six Happiness

Our weekly Readers' Choice voting ran from Monday at 8 a.m. until Friday at 9 a.m.

If this week's Readers' Choice results are any indication, it appears the Blue Collar Foodie wasn't exaggerating when he called Six Happiness a "real deal" sushi bar. The small Morlot Avenue Chinese restaurant that also serves sushi took home this week's crown for the best sushi in town with 53 percent of the vote. Mei Sushi on Plaza Road came in second with 20 percent of the vote and Jersey Farmers Market, already a two-time Readers' Choice winner, garned 14 percent of the vote to finish third. Six Happiness has been a favorite of local high school and middle school students for some time because of its cheap eats and lunch specials, but it only came to the attention of foodies more recently when it added a sushi bar. As local blogger The…

Readers' Choice Favorite Frozen Yogurt: Let's Yo

Our weekly Readers' Choice voting ran from Monday at 8 a.m. until Friday at 9 a.m.

The borough's two frozen yogurt shops duked it out in a close battle for Fair Lawn's fro yo supremacy, but neither could match Let's Yo, a new self-serve frozen yogurt franchise in Paramus that took home this week's Readers' Choice award. Let's Yo, which had its grand opening on May 12, carried 60 percent of readers' votes. Yogurt Plus (14 percent) and Ice Cream Factoria (12 percent) finished second and third, respectively, separated by just two votes. From the founder of Retro Fitness, Let's Yo blasts customers with a sea of green as they enter the store, located at the Gap Center on Route 17 South. Green covers the walls, the signs and the iPads at each table. Marcello Petruzzella, who co-owns the Paramus Let's Yo with Russell Rothstein…

Inside Fair Lawn: Swiss Pork Store

Wayne Robbins visits last week's Readers' Choice winner.

Oh, do I miss your shop. I moved to NC 22 years ago,, and I can't get anything like I could get with you -- bread (Lithuanian bread is wonderful), rose hip jam...I even had you send me some a few times. How much is your jam going for now? Do you still carry it? I can't find it anywhere....   more ›

Ya'know, there's something to be said about one's local get-a-way for a cool break....the old saying " where everybody knows your name " IS Yogart Plus. Readers' Choice Favorite Butcher: Swiss Pork Store

Our weekly Readers' Choice voting ran from Monday at 8 a.m. until Friday at 9 a.m.

This one was never close. Swiss Pork Store on Fair Lawn Avenue ran away with the title of Fair Lawn's Favorite Butcher Shop in this week's Readers' Choice poll. Only three butchers/purveyors of meat received votes, with the vast majority -- 93 percent -- going to Swiss Pork Store. ShopRite finished second with 6 percent of votes cast and Food Showcase received a single vote. At a time when traditional butcher shops are becoming hard to find, Swiss Pork Store -- located on Fair Lawn Avenue in the Radburn Shopping Center next to CVS -- is thriving. The shop sells not just pork, as its name would suggest, but also offers homemade European cold cuts and specialty sausage, kielbasa, bratwurst, knockwurst and weisswurst, liverwurst, bologna and …
