Police Step Up Patrols at Beaver Dam Park

Neighbors report that dozens of young adults frequent the park at night and leave it a mess.

Police have increased patrols at Beaver Dam Park after neighbors expressed quality of life concerns over what one described as, "the use and abuse of the facility." Pellington Drive resident Jack Sheehan, who had already sent the mayor a letter of complaint signed by residents, came out to Tuesday's council work session to further air his growing apprehension about some of the park's visitors. "Over the last three to four years, we have witnessed the erosion of our quality of life," Sheehan said. "Formerly, we would often tell relatives and friends that we hardly saw any police activity in our area. Now we are requesting some additional activity." If there was any other proof of problems at parks, Brookdale park was recently burnt down! A good majority of the parks are poorly maintained with a lack of garbage refuses and security.   more ›

Swastikas Found Spray-Painted in Park

A parks employee came across anti-Semitic graffiti spray-painted on the basketball court at Beaver Dam Park Friday morning, and notified police

Fair Lawn police are investigating anti-Semitic graffiti discovered by a parks employee Friday morning spray-painted on the basketball court at Beaver Dam Park. Det. David Boone said police found a total of three swastikas and an anarchy sign tagged in black spray paint at the park, located off of Saddle River Road between Pellington Drive and Brookside Avenue. The word “PRIDE” was spray-painted underneath the largest swastika on the court, with a smaller swastika contained inside the “D.” Beside the swastika, in white paint, are the letters “FL,” followed by an animal’s face, and a “D.” Boone said he believed the marking was a derogatory shot aimed at the police, or “FLPD,” with the animal face meant to represent a “pussy cat.” There are …
