A man robbed the TD Bank branch on River Road Monday around 2:19 p.m., Fair Lawn police said.
Fair Lawn police Tuesday released surveillance images of the man who allegedly robbed the TD Bank on River Road Monday afternoon. The suspect, described as an approximately 6-foot tall, 170-pound black male between 25 and 30 years of age with some facial hair, can be seen in the photographs wearing a light brown Adidas hooded sweatshirt, black winter gloves and a dark colored cap. Police said he entered the bank around 2:19 p.m. Monday and passed the teller a note demanding money. Bank employees told police that the suspect neither spoke nor brandished a weapon. A man robbed the TD Bank on River Road of approximately $2,800 Monday afternoon, police said.
Borough and county police are investigating a bank robbery at the TD Bank branch on River Road, located just blocks from the police station, Chief Erik Rose said. The suspect, described as a tall, thin black male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and gloves, entered the bank around 2:19 p.m. Monday and slipped the teller a note indicating a robbery, Rose said. There was no verbal communication between the man and the teller, and no weapon was shown or mentioned, police said. After receiving approximately $2,800 from the bank employee, the man fled on foot in the direction of Fair Lawn Avenue, Rose said. A man with a claw hammer robbed the Chase Bank on Saddle River Road just before 6 p.m. Thursday, according to an FBI statement. The man, described as a 5-foot-7-inch black male with a thin-to-medium build and a thin goatee, entered the bank wielding a claw hammer, grabbed a bank employee and demanded another employee fill an envelope with cash, according to the statement. Upon receiving the envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash, the man, who was wearing a tan hat, burgundy sweater and khaki pants, fled in an unknown direction, the FBI statement said. Alfred Pedersen, 40, of Prospect Park, has pleaded guilty to three counts of bank robbery, including one committed last October at the Chase Bank on Saddle River Road.
A man who admitted to robbing three North Jersey banks last year -- including one in Fair Lawn -- and who allegedly made an attempt to escape Hudson County Jail in June posing as a clergyman, will be sentenced on October 30, a spokesman for the U.S Attorney's Office said Monday. Alfred Pedersen, 40, of Prospect Park, has pleaded guilty to committing three bank heists late last year in Englewood, Fair Lawn and Cliffside Park that netted him a total of $8,295, according to a federal criminal complaint. Two men charged in a robbery in Yonkers Wednesday had allegedly planned to hit a Chase Bank in Fair Lawn in the future.
A pair of Bronx cousins charged with bank robbery after allegedly holding up a bank in Yonkers Wednesday are also suspects in bank robberies in Rockland County and were planning to hit at least three more banks in New Jersey over the coming weeks, including a Chase Bank in Fair Lawn, New York law enforcement officials said. A man implicated in a number of bank robberies, including one in Fair Lawn last year, has been arrested in Mobile, Ala.
A man implicated in the robbery of the Chase Bank on Fair Lawn Avenue last July was sentenced Tuesday to 70 months in jail for a subsequent bank robbery he confessed to committing in Alabama, Patch has learned. James Raymond Jacobs, of Morrisville, Pa., was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery and obstruction of justice on Aug. 9, after police said he robbed an RBC Bank in Mobile, Ala. and then led them on a brief chase before crashing his vehicle, according to a report in the Mobile Press-Register. Jacobs plead guilty to the Mobile bank robbery on Nov. 15, and was sentenced Tuesday to serve just under six years in jail. The FBI continues to investigate a pair of recent bank robberies in Fair Lawn, but have yet to name a suspect in either case. On July 2, just before 1 p.m., a white male with a stubble beard wearing eyeglasses, a navy blue cap, a navy blue shirt and khaki pants, held up the Chase Bank at 21-01 Fair Lawn Ave., and fled the scene on foot. He did not show a weapon.
