Special Needs Adults Exhibit Abstract Sculptures at Library

Clients of The Opportunity Center will have their artwork displayed at the library during the month of August.

Abstract three-dimensional sculptures, meticulously crafted by adults with mental and physical disabilities will be on display at the library for the month of August. The original sculptures, which feature unique creations fashioned from gold-toned toothpicks, were created by clients of Fair Lawn's Opportunity Center. The non-profit Opportunity Center, located at 13-19 Fair Lawn Ave., is dedicated to providing a life-enhancing experience for young adult clients ages 21-and-up who have a broad range of disabilities including autism, mental disabilities, Down Syndrome and cerebral palsy. Inside Fair Lawn: Agape Road Show Entertains at Opportunity Center

Wayne Robbins enjoyed a very special day earlier this week when he visited the Opportunity Center in Fair Lawn for the Agape Road Show's interactive performance. The Agape Road Show, an intergenerational group of musicians, singers, actors, storytellers, and comedians performed a volunteer musical show Tuesday at the Opportunity Center, a year-round facility that provides a day program for young adult special needs clients ages 21-and-up. Agape Road Show Performs Twice for Mother's Day

Singers are needed for upcoming Mother's Day performances at the Opportunity Center and Maple Glen Center.

The Agape Road Show, a 12-member non-profit group of musicians, singers, poets, actors, storytellers, acrobats and comedians that offers entertainment to residents in convalescent hospitals and nursing homes will perform two Mother's Day shows in Fair Lawn this week. The group will perform on Tuesday at The Opportunity Center, located at 13-19 Fair Lawn Avenue, and on Saturday at Maple Glen Center. Agape's highly interactive performance Tuesday for an audience of 25 developmentally disabled young adults at The Opportunity Center will begin at 1 p.m. Their Saturday afternoon performance celebrating mothers and grandmothers for over 50 senior citizens at Maple Glen begins at 2 p.m. Volunteers of all ages and talent levels are welcome to join…

Yesterday we did our first ever show at The Opportunity Center in Fair Lawn for an audience of 25 developmentally disabled young adults. We gave them horns and they marched around the room as McNamara's Band with Irene leading the way.
