A Fair Lawn woman suffered lower body injuries when she was struck by a car Monday night while crossing Morlot Avenue at 5th Street, police said.
A Fair Lawn woman was hospitalized Monday night after being struck by a car on Morlot Avenue, police said. Jote Nati, 74, was making her way across Morlot Avenue from the northeast corner of 5th Street around 9 p.m., when she was hit by an eastbound car and sent flying 10 feet through the air, Officer Stephen Buskiewicz said. She fractured one, and possibly both of her legs, but was conscious and alert at the scene before being taken to the hospital, he said. Detective Peter Yuskaitis checked up on Nati at the hospital following the accident and reported that she was in stable condition, Sgt. James Krizek said. Igors Cernenoks, 49, the New York man who was struck by a vehicle while crossing River Road on Saturday died Monday morning at 6:30 a.m., police said.
A Monroe, N.Y. man who was struck by a car while crossing westbound on River Road at Hopper Avenue Saturday afternoon has died, police said. Igors Cernenoks, 49, was pronounced dead Monday at 6:30 a.m., Detective Lt. Michael Uttel said. Uttel said he knew Cernenoks had undergone surgery at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center on Saturday night to reduce swelling in his brain, but hadn't heard any additional information until Monday morning when he was informed Cernenoks had died. A woman walking on Warren Road near Plaza Road was struck by a motorist at around 6 p.m. Tuesday.
A woman was hospitalized Tuesday after being struck by a motorist on Warren Road around 6 p.m., police said. The driver had just turned left onto Warren from Plaza Road when she struck the pedestrian, whom police said was walking home from the Radburn train station. The victim complained of head pain, but her injuries are not considered life-threatening, police said. She was transported to the trauma center at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson. A driver turning left onto River Road from Berdan Avenue struck two middle schoolers walking home from school Thursday, a crossing guard said.
Two Memorial Middle School students were struck by a car while crossing River Road on their walk home from class Thursday, a crossing guard who witnessed the accident said. The girls, ages 11 and 12, were crossing with the light and inside the crosswalk when a car turning left from Berdan Avenue onto River Road struck both of them in the rear, sending one of the girls flying into the air, crossing guard Mel Schultz said. The driver, who said she never saw the kids, immediately stopped her vehicle and got out of the car to tend to the children, who were both knocked to the ground, Schultz said.
