Inside Fair Lawn: Agape Road Show Entertains at Opportunity Center

Wayne Robbins of "Inside Fair Lawn," was on hand Tuesday for the Agape Road Show's interactive performance at the Opportunity Center

Wayne Robbins enjoyed a very special day earlier this week when he visited the Opportunity Center in Fair Lawn for the Agape Road Show's interactive performance. The Agape Road Show, an intergenerational group of musicians, singers, actors, storytellers, and comedians performed a volunteer musical show Tuesday at the Opportunity Center, a year-round facility that provides a day program for young adult special needs clients ages 21-and-up. Before the show, Wayne chatted with Nadine Kaiser, the Opportunity Center's Executive Director. -- Follow Fair Lawn Patch on Facebook and Twitter, and subscribe to receive our daily newsletter in your inbox each morning

Borough to Form Work Partnership With Special Needs Students

Students in the high school's Bridges II program will work once a week at the recycling center to gain functional life skills

Special-Needs Students Transform Into Pop Stars [VIDEO]

Nine students in the Fair Lawn High School's Bridges II program starred in a music video rendition of Miley Cyrus' "The Climb."

Dozens of adoring fans flocked to the Fair Lawn High School Library Friday morning for the world premiere of a new music video by nine of the school’s Bridges II students. Accustomed to the film cranes, scoop lighting and boom mics from their last shoot, the day’s stars -- dressed in award show garb -- seemed unfazed by the horde of photographers and videographers on hand to capture the unveiling of their moving rendition of Miley Cyrus’, “The Climb.” Doreen Yates, the primary instructor for the Bridges II program, which serves 16- to 21-year olds with cognitive disabilities, said she truly considered the students superstars. “This has been an amazing journey for [the Bridges II students],” Yates said. “What began as a small idea, quickly …

Amazing to watch these children. The joy on their faces tells it all. My Granddaughter Jade Massimi was thrilled to be a star. Everyone should be required to watch this video and see the sparkle in the kids' eyes. Thank you Fairlawn H.S., Mr. Geresi, Mrs. Yates and all who made this possible. Louis Sbarra   more ›
