Radburn Student Wins Districtwide Spelling Bee

The inaugural Rotary Club of Fair Lawn's 4th Grade Spelling Bee was held on April 18 at the Community Center.

Last week's Rotary Club of Fair Lawn 4th Grade Spelling Bee spanned 10 rounds and took more than two hours, but in the end, Radburn Elementary's Veronica Gomez outlasted all 33 other district spellers to prevail as champion. For her extraordinary orthographic efforts, Gomez took home a trophy and a color Nook e-reader donated by Columbia Bank. Aashansa Patel from Warren Point Elementary came in second place. Two representatives from each fourth grade class in the district -- 34 students total -- competed for the district spelling crown. Class representatives who competed in the bee -- held April 18 at the Community Center -- qualified through prior competitions at each of the district's six elementary schools.
