The Policemen's Benevolent Association Local 67 will hold down a booth at the River Road Street Fair on Sunday, where they'll distribute safety tip sheets, coloring books and candy.
This year, keeping in mind the borough's diverse population, the Fair Lawn Policemen's Benevolent Association Local 67 has put a little polyglot twist on the customary Halloween safety sheets the group distributes at the River Road Street Fair. For the first time, the PBA's Halloween Safety Tips trifold has been translated into four languages — English, Spanish, Russian and Hebrew — so it can reach each of Fair Lawn's most prominent demographic groups. Universal Dialect in Teaneck provided the translations. In addition to the safety tips sheets, kids who stop by the PBA's booth on Sunday will receive a Halloween-themed coloring book and have the opportunity to get fingerprinted for an I.D. kit. The PBA, Fair Lawn Police Auxiliary and …

Republican Candidate for State Sen. John Driscoll's latest commercial
UPDATE: Charles Stile, political columnist for The Record, offers his take on the latest Driscoll ad. Editor's Note: A re-post of a campaign commercial does not equal an endorsement. Bergen County Freeholder Chairman and Republican Candidate for State Sen. John Driscoll's latest anti-Bob Gordon ad dropped Monday. In the 30-second spot, Driscoll and Sen. Gordon are presented as polar opposites - Driscoll as a shining light and reformer for New Jersey, Gordon as a dark political insider who raised taxes. Both candidates were at Fair Lawn's River Road Street Fair on Sunday. Here are links to Driscoll and the District 38 Republicans' prior two campaign ads: UPDATE: Politifact NJ Concludes Driscoll Ad is 'Mostly False' 38th District …

The New Radburn Gourmet Deli held its grand opening Saturday, Oct. 1
Two short years ago, David Kawash never imagined he’d be slinging his own seafood salad or holding wing-eating contests to promote his business. Back then, Kawash, a financial analyst for Ridgewood Renewable Power, probably wouldn’t have recommended employing Vito from “The Sopranos” to publicize his company. Now, as the owner of Radburn Deli, he can. And he has. In fact, Vito’s not the only Soprano who’s graced the Deli with his presence since Kawash and his wife Justine took it over in early May. While Kawash said the sharp turn from a cushy Wall Street job to working around the clock as a small business owner is not something he would have attempted if it weren’t for the rough economy, he’s enjoying it all the same. “The money was very …
