Fair Lawn Hockey Records Best Season Since 2008

The Fair Lawn High School hockey team, which finished with more wins than any Cutters' team since 2008, should be just as good or better next year.

The high school's varsity ice hockey program continued its steady resurgence this season under third-year coach Brack Healy. Fair Lawn notched more wins than any Cutters' team since 2008, finishing third in the nine-team Big North Gold Division with a 14-8-1 record. They lost 4-1 to Hillsborough in the first-round of the state playoffs. "I was very proud of how our guys battled the entire season," Healy said. "Last year we fell off at the end, but this year the guys finished strong and were extremely competitive in the season ending loss to No. 11 Hillsborough." Cutters' Real Test Will Come Against Ridgewood

The Fair Lawn High School Ice Hockey team is 8-3-1 and has already clinched a spot in the Bergen County Tournament.

On paper, the Fair Lawn High School Ice Hockey team looks much improved. They're scoring more goals per game and surrendering fewer. They're third in the division and have nearly equaled their divisional win total from a year ago. They even already punched their ticket to the Bergen County Tournament after failing to receive an invite last season. But it won't be clear just how much this year's team has improved until they face off with Ridgewood this Saturday. Despite their hot start, the Cutters have yet to beat an opponent with a winning record. Paramus Catholic, who dropped Fair Lawn 4-2 in the second game of the year, is the only winning team they've even faced.
