Inside Fair Lawn: FLHS Interact Club Cut-a-Thon

Videographer Wayne Robbins went to Bellezza Salon in Glen Rock on Sunday to film its Annual Cut-a-Thon.

Inside Fair Lawn's Wayne Robbins attended the annual Fair Lawn High School Interact Club's Cut-a-Thon Sunday at Bellezza Salon in Glen Rock. Bellezza's hair stylists volunteered their time to offer hair and beauty services at discounted rates with all sales proceeds going to the family of Sigi Nissimov, the owner of Life Movement Dance Studio in Fair Lawn who died of cancer earlier this year, and the Fair Lawn ADA Committee. Inside Fair Lawn: Mary Ann Collura Memorial Concert

Inside Fair Lawn's Wayne Robbins captured video of Saturday's memorial concert in honor of fallen Fair Lawn police officer Mary Ann Collura.

Fair Lawn's tribute to fallen police officer Mary Ann Collura continued Saturday night with a memorial concert at Van Riper Ellis Broadway Baptist Church. Inside Fair Lawn's Wayne Robbins was there to capture the musical stylings of The West Virginians, a singing group from Philippi, W.V., that performed for friends and neighbors of the Collura family, and Colene "Coco" Walter, who sang "Angel Wings," a song she co-wrote with Fair Lawn resident Peter Prince about Mary Ann Collura. Inside Fair Lawn: Richard P. Wedeen Opening Reception

An opening reception for Dr. Richard P Wedeen's digital photography exhibit at the Fair Lawn public library was held Sunday.

Inside Fair Lawn's Wayne Robbins caught up with physician, medical scientist and photographer Richard P. Wedeen at the opening reception of the local doctor's digital photography exhibit at the Fair Lawn Public Library's Pine Gallery. Inside Fair Lawn: 'One Pound at a Time' Metzler Weigh-In

Wayne Robbins attended the Fair Lawn Green Team-sponsored "One Pound at a Time: Reduce Weight" kickoff at the Community Center on Feb. 20

The Fair Lawn Green Team kicked off its "One Pound at a Time" campaign on Feb. 20 with a clean eating presentation by Valley Hospital nutritionist Danielle Cinnante and a public weigh-in by borough manager Tom Metzler. The event drew about 40 people who were given the opportunity to speak with representatives from Lucille Roberts gym and get additional information fitness tips from the borough's Parks and Recreation department. Metzler, the "One Pound at a Time" poster boy who weighed in at 261 pounds at the meeting, will have his weight loss efforts tracked over the next month. Residents are encouraged to pledge money per pound Metzler sheds, which will go toward home repairs in Bergen County towns hit hard by Superstorm Sandy.  Anyone …

Inside Fair Lawn: Angelman Syndrome Awareness

Wayne Robbins sat down at Empress Diner in Fair Lawn to speak with resident Heather Polyi about supporting her daughter, Lyra, who has a rare neuro-genetic disorder called Angelman Syndrome.

Inside Fair Lawn's Wayne Robbins filmed a chat this weekend with resident Heather Polyi and her family at the Empress Diner about bringing awareness to a rare neuro-genetic disease called Angelman Syndrome. Polyi, who owns the River Road makeup studio, Glam Spot NJ, has a two-year-old daughter with Angelman Syndrome named Lyra. At nearly three years old, Lyra cannot sit independently, crawl or walk, or feed herself. She still drinks from bottles (that she cannot hold) and eats pureed food, Polyi explains on the Facebook page she created for her daughter. Inside Fair Lawn: Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon Dinner Dance

Wayne Robbins captured video and interviews from January's Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon Dinner Dance at the Fair Lawn Community Center.

The Adopt-a-Soldier Platoon, a local non-profit that provides support to military "adoptees" and their units stationed overseas, held a dinner dance fundraiser on Jan. 12 at the Fair Lawn Community Center. Inside Fair Lawn's Wayne Robbins attended the fundraiser, which featured a buffet dinner catered by Giovanni's Deli and music by Joe Zisa and Friends Band. Inside Fair Lawn: Taste of Our Town

Inside Fair Lawn's Wayne Robbins grabbed interviews and grub at last week's Taste of Our Town event held at the Community Center.

Videographer Wayne Robbins spent last Monday evening at the Community Center for the Fair Lawn Chamber of Commerce's Fourth Annual Taste of Our Town event, where guests can sample an assortment of local cuisine at a reasonable price. He produced three videos from the epicurean extravaganza -- the Chamber had their best turnout ever -- that include interviews and tasty visuals of the night's cuisine.  Resident rank-orderer Cornell Christanson also attended the Taste, and came away with his top five dishes. They are, in order: 1. Ribs from Lucky's Steak Plate 2. Chicken Sage from Sage Restaurant 3. Brown Rice from Caputo's Catering 4. Beef Meatball from A Family Affair 5. Inside Fair Lawn: Up Close with Fair Lawn's Mayor

Wayne Robbins paid a visit to the mayor's office in the Fair Lawn municipal building to speak with John Cosgrove about his new role.

Inside Fair Lawn's Wayne Robbins sat down recently with John Cosgrove to chat about Mr. Fair Lawn's first month in the mayor's seat and the work he sees ahead for the borough in the coming year. Cosgrove, a lifelong Fair Lawn resident and volunteer extraordinaire, is in his second year on council.
