Ridgewood Water Treatment Agreement Renewed
The interlocal water treatment services agreement between the borough of Fair Lawn and the Village of Ridgewood increased by $1 per sample this year.
For the past decade, the borough has taken between 18 and 25 tap water samples at various locations throughout town each week and sent them to a lab in Ridgewood for bacteriological analysis as part of an interlocal services agreement. On Tuesday, borough council renewed its agreement with Ridgewood at a slightly increased price -- up $1 per sample, or about 15 percent more than it had been paying. Borough engineer Ken Garrison said it was the first time since 2001 that the price for the service had increased. The price hike will amount to an increased cost of between $500 and $600 more per year. Why didn't they catch the contamination caused when the fan went out and why didn't our water dept. catch it, the inoperative fan, before we were sent by "snail mail" a notice that the water was below standands??   more ›
