Inside Fair Lawn: Giclee Prints Featured at Pine Gallery

Wayne Robbins speaks to British artist and interior designer Sydney Roberts, whose fine art printmaking is on display at Fair Lawn Library's Pine Gallery through Oct. 31.

Photographs by fine artist and professional interior designer Sydney Roberts are on display at the Fair Lawn Library's Pine Gallery this September. An exhibit featuring Roberts' prints, created in the giclee printmaking style that employs high-resolution inkjet printers, opened on Sept. 16 and will run through Oct. 31. Roberts, who was born in Yorkshire, England, and now lives in Franklin Lakes, had his signature work, “The Great Falls,” in Paterson, presented to Barack Obama following the president's visit to Paterson last year in the aftermath of Hurricane Irene. Roberts' work, rooted in his romantic vision of the Impressionist school of art, employs both photo-realism and photo-impressionism styles. He lists 19th century British …

Inside Fair Lawn: Opening Reception for Photographer Laura Warren

Wayne Robbins visited the Fair Lawn library's Pine Gallery on Saturday to film the opening reception for photographer Laura Warren.

The library's Pine Gallery hosted an opening reception on Saturday for local teacher Laura Warren, whose photography will be on display until June 29. Warren, who has been a special education teacher for more than 15 years and currently teaches in Franklin Lakes' resource program, uses photography as an artistic medium for healing. Her award-winning work aims to capture the beauty and simplicity of the ordinary.  Warren became interested in photography after losing her husband to colon cancer and surviving her own battle with breast cancer. She received a Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation fellowship to study digital storytelling at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and has since gone on to win numerous local awards and become …

The library's Pine Gallery will feature the photography of local teacher Laura Warren beginning Sunday, May 6. Warren, who has been a special education teacher for more than 15 years and currently teaches in Franklin Lakes' resource program, uses photography as an artistic medium for healing. Her award-winning work aims to capture the beauty and simplicity of the ordinary.  Warren became interested in photography after losing her husband to colon cancer and surviving her own battle with breast cancer. High Schooler's Pencil Drawings Displayed at Library

Drawings by Fair Lawn High School sophomore Riley Wagstaff will be featured in the level B display case through April.

Peer over to your left the next time you pass through the library's front doors and you'll see a series of pencil drawings by high school sophomore Riley Wagstaff. Wagstaff, 16, will have her drawings displayed in the level B display case through the month of April. Wagstaff, who moved to town from Texas last year, said she's always loved drawing, and as a child would carry a pad of paper and a pencil around with her just in case she felt moved to scribble her next masterpiece. This year she's enrolled in the Fine Art 3 Honors class at Fair Lawn High School and is looking forward to taking AP Art next year as a junior. After high school, Wagstaff said she'd like to attend Brigham Young University and pursue a career in art -- either as a …
