Businesses on Fair Lawn's River Road traditionally decorate their storefront windows during the holiday season.
The holidays are a special time of year on Fair Lawn’s River Road. Brightly painted storefront windows plus streetlights decorated with festive wreaths, bows and twinkling lights invite shoppers and visitors to join in the celebration of the season. The warm welcome provided by the businesses of the River Road District adds to the hometown feeling of hospitality and goodwill, noted River Road Improvement Corporation president Bob Landzettel. The River Road Classic Car Show was held on Oct. 21 in conjunction with the River Road Street Fair.
Fair Lawn Mayor Jeanne Baratta chose this mustang convertible for the Mayor's Choice Award at the River Road Classic Car Show on Oct. 21. Mayor Baratta and River Road Improvement Corporation President Bob Landzettel were among the judges who selected the winners of cash prizes and gift certificates provided by district businesses Muscle Maker Grill, Fisher’s Café, Victoria Pizza, and Empress Diner. The generous prize and fun-filled atmosphere helped make the event a success for all the participants and the many visitors to Fair Lawn’s River Road. When Fair Lawn Patch launched in fall of 2010, editors and freelancers visited local businesses in order to collect information for our directory. Patch Places is a spot where users can find descriptions, hours, accepted payment methods, and much more for spots around both towns. All users can add events taking place at local spots, can rate the business on a scale of one to five stars, and can add a review. But did you know owners of local businesses can "claim" their listings to keep the information for their customers as up-to-date as possible? Residents concerned about the proposed elimination of two post offices in Fair Lawn will meet Tuesday at the Radburn Post Office on Abbott Road to let their voices be heard. The public hearing begins at 6:30 p.m. A United States Postal Service representative will be present to respond to comments. In July, both the River Road and Warren Point Post Offices appeared on a list of 13 North Jersey postal branches being considered for permanent closure, as early as January 2012. If both the River Road and Warren Point Post Offices were shuttered, the Radburn Post Office on Abbott Road would serve as Fair Lawn’s lone post office.
