Actually, I don't remember Brent saying that it would be overturned -- only that the law was very ambiguous and he didn't want to make the taxpayers of Fair Lawn guinea pigs.

On the article Affordable Housing Fight Goes Back to the Courts
Michael Roney

ReplyWhat is usually missed in articles about COAH is that it is widely used by developers to force MARKET RATE housing on towns that already have too much development and don't want any more -- often on open space or in environmentally sensitive areas. if a town was not 100% up-to-date in its compliance with COAH, the developer could sue them on that basis and get a court order (the "builder's remedy") to build a 200-unit development, with maybe 20% set aside for affordable housing. The object is to force the market-rate units, of course. Affordable housing is a worthy cause, but COAH has been grossly mis-sused by developers in NJ and already has caused destruction. It needs to be fixed.

ReplyI suspect that they're both Barry's puppets. These orchestrated partisan attacks are extremely disappointing. Perhaps FL moving back to a non-partisan electoral system would improve the atmosphere and effectiveness of our local government. Local issues have very little to do with national platforms, and party "loyalty" just causes problems here. It's counterproductive.

ReplyUnfortunately, this development will profoundly impact Fair Lawn from end to end - and not in a good way. It's going to degrade the experience of living here on every level. The degree to which it does that can be mitigated somewhat by people coming out to the planning board meetings, beginning tonight.

On the article Poll: What Do You Think of Tim Tebow Joining the Jets?

ReplyOn paper, the addition of Tebow as a backup/wildcat quarterback makes some sense and adds dimension to the Jets offense. However, the situation could really mess with Sanchez's head and cause problems.

This is a really good thing. The more guns off the streets and out of homes, the better. Capitalism at work.
