The Fair Lawn Rescue Squad and Fire Department used a boat to move commuters off a trapped bus on Broadway.

Heavy rains caused flooding on Route 208 South and some local roads Monday morning.

The Fair Lawn Rescue Squad  and Fire Department responded to Broadway at the railroad tracks, where a commuter bus and two cars were stuck in the water, according to Fair Lawn Police Det. Sgt. Brian Metzler. They used a boat to move five people from the bus and one from a car.

Other cars were caught in the water around Fair Lawn and had to be towed away, according to Metzler. The flooded locations included Route 208 South at Morlot Avenue, Broadway East at the railroad tracks, Bellair Avenue at 2nd Street and at 4th Street, Arcadia Road between Plaza Road and Midland Avenue, Berkshire Road at 29th Street, Berdan Avenue at Taylor Road, Southern Drive at 33rd Street. As of 11:40 a.m., all the flood waters had receded.

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning until 1 p.m.
