Fair Lawn Blockbuster Closing in January

The store is the chain's last location in Bergen County.

The Blockbuster video store on River Road in Fair Lawn is set to close its doors in January, an employee confirmed.

The Colorado-based Dish Network Corp., which owns Blockbuster, announced earlier this month that they would be closing the last 300 U.S. Blockbuster stores, citing a shift in popularity of in-person movie rentals to online and mail-based services like Netflix.

The Fair Lawn store was the chain's last location in Bergen County following the closure of its Hillsdale location during another widespread shuttering early this year.

The store is now offering up all its merchandise and displays at a discounted rate. Prices will continue to drop on remaining items every Thursday, according to a store employee.
